In this article we will explain how to perform an upgrade or downgrade of a Windows VPS or Linux VPS at HostMF. To upgrade/downgrade your service, you will be charged the difference corresponding to the number of days remaining until your VPS expires, so you will only pay the difference for the days you will use.

On VPS servers, upgrades/downgrades are possible for the following resources:

  • RAM memory
  • vCores (CPU)
  • Storage (UPGRADE ONLY)
  • IPs

Do not use the upgrade/downgrade feature to change the Operating System and/or switch datacenter location, as it will not work. Also, do not attempt to DOWNGRADE storage. It is not possible to reduce the storage space of VPS servers due to file system limitations.

To upgrade or downgrade your VPS resources, follow these steps

  1. Log in to your client area, go to the services page and click the row corresponding to the VPS you want to upgrade:
    VPS Upgrade step 1
  2. On your VPS details page, in the left menu, click the option "Upgrade/Downgrade Options"
    VPS Upgrade/Downgrade step 2
  3. Change the desired settings and click "Click to Continue".
  4. At this step, the total amount to be paid will be displayed. Choose the payment method and click "Click to Continue" again.
  5. After that, the invoice will be generated. Once the invoice is paid, the upgrade will be applied.

Applying the new settings to the VPS.

After payment and confirmation of the upgrade, the settings are not applied automatically to your VPS. For them to take effect, you need to shut down and then start the VPS.

Therefore, after payment confirmation, shut down and start your VPS again. It is important that it is SHUT DOWN and then STARTED, and not restarted.

You can request the shutdown through the VPS itself, and the start through your VPS control panel.

1. Shutting down the VPS

2. Make sure the VPS has shut down, and click the Start button to start it.

If after this procedure your VPS does not update with the new settings, contact support.

Do not hesitate to contact support if you have any questions.
