In this tutorial you will learn how to enable or change the settings of active extensions in the PHP version selected for your website. This configuration can be done through cPanel itself, and requires a basic level of knowledge.

  1. Access cPanel:
Log in to your cPanel control panel to access the management of your hosting.

  2. CloudLinux PHP Selector:
Search for "PHP" in the cPanel search, and click on "Select PHP Version", as shown in the screenshot below:
    Change PHP extensions figure 1

  3. Enable the CloudLinux PHP Selector:
Make sure the PHP Selector is enabled for your domain. If it is not, just click the button indicated in the screenshot below:

The Handled By field should display a CloudLinux icon, and it should be marked with that icon:

  4. Go to the extension settings:
After making sure your website is using the CloudLinux PHP Selector, click the "Extensions" tab, as shown in the screenshot below:

  5. Set the PHP version:
If the selected Current PHP Version option is "native", you must change it to the desired version, not "native". In the native version it is not possible to customize extensions, and an orange message will be displayed, as shown in the screenshot below. Therefore, click the PHP version options and choose a version.

In this example, we will select version 7.4

To save the change, after selecting the version, click the "Set as current" link.

  6. Manage your Extensions:
Once this is done, you can enable or disable the extensions you want to use. Just check the desired extensions, and they will automatically take effect on your website.
